ASHA KIRAN ORPHANAGE PROJECT
Asha Kiran is the Ray of Hope for the orphan and destitute girl children is the dream project of Mr. Pratap Kumar Pradhan, a 28 year old energetic and dynamic young man having great vision for the development of the society. He is dedicated for the development of needy children and women in tribal area of south Odisha, and few slum areas in Bhubaneswar city.
ASHA KIRAN is essentially a special home for girl children neglected by their families and the society. It provides:
Education & Health care: ASHA KIRAN has tie up with JOVIAL Public School, to educate all children. Similarly, tie up with Ayurvedic Clinic for holistic health care. A doctor regularly visits for health check up of Asha Kiran children.
Nutrition Care: Asha Kiran provides nutritious food four times a day (Breakfast, Lunch, Tiffin and Dinner) to its children.
Safety Shelter: Asha Kiran is accommodating children in safety shelter with good family atmosphere at Plot no 1/1797, bhakti Vihar, Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
Extracurricular:Asha Kiran has arranged several extracurricular activities for children like Odissi Dance, Music Class, Stage Performance, Sports & Games, and Exposure Visits. Our Annual Children’s Festival is the prime motivation for promoting creative pursuits among the children. Now we have 25 children at Asha Kiran Home, they all are study at Jovial Public School on various classess.
Building Construction: Asha Kiran Orphanage has now own building at Plot no 1/1797, it was constructed by the support of number of our Donors. It was constructed 5 rooms with 3 toilets on 3,500 sqft land. There is a safety and lovely compound.
SMILE TWIN E-LEARNING PROJECT
The concept
The Smile Twin e-Learning Project is designed to create employability by equipping the under privileged adolescent youths, residing in urban locations, in marketable skills like English and Computer for which there is increasing demand in services sectors particularly services sectors-retail outlets, BPOs etc. The project envisages a partnership model wherein the cost of project is shared between Smile Foundation and Partner organization.
The STeP project is implemented in 40 centers in various locations across the country. Our center is one of them among the 40 centers. STeP project is implemented in partnership with Smile Foundation, New Delhi and supported by U&N Foundation, UPS Foundation, and Asset Foundation. The project is also collaborating for some academic partners like International Management Institute (IMI), Busy InfoTech Pvt. Ltd. Etc.
SLAJUS is tie up with some placement agency for employment of our students in Retail, BPO, Hospitality and service sectors also. During the year 45 under privileged youths were benefited from STeP project.
Skills Training
The STeP project is provide following skill building training on following area.

- Computer skills
- English language
Sub Focus
- Basic management including retail management skill.
- Personality Development. Leadership quality development and carrier opportunity and counseling,
- Conduct seminars on various social issues and HIV AIDs
Beneficiary & Criteria of the programme
- Higher secondary (class 12) passed adolescents (15+);
- Children of single parent (women), Commercial sex workers (CSWs), children of HIV/AIDS affected parents, children coming from low family income;
Bright, enterprising, ambitious with certain knowledge/ awareness about state of affairs; and able to pay some token fees (amount to be ascertained) for the training.
DAY CARE CENTRE FOR TRIBAL CHILDREN
SLAJUS is implement a Day care Centre for the Tribal and Working Mother with the support of “State Social Welfare Board” and “Central Social Welfare Board”. This programme is functioning at village Bariguda of Paburia Gram Panchayat in Tikabali Block of Kandhamal District.
The objectives of the project are better care taking of poor tribal children and introduce primary education. The center is covering the children of poor tribal working mothers. Now we have 25 nos of children including boys and girls, two ayes are appoint for care taking of these children.
FOOTBALL TOURNEMENT AMONG TRIBAL YOUTH
SLAJUS is believe for that you have all the power and capacity to change the society. If the youth masses is strong and determine then every work is successful. So SLAJUS is focus among the various youth groups in the area of operation and in this regards we have arrange many programmes for them like National Integration Camp, Awareness camps and Sports meets like Football Tournaments, Volley ball tournament and cricket tournaments.
SLAJUS was organized a Football tournament with the name of Govind Chandra Pradhan (Founder of the SLAJUS) called G. C. Memorial Tournament. The tournament was held at Paburia High School Ground in kandhamal district, in this year 16 nos football teams among the various youth group of the kandhamal district was participated. The tournament was held between 2nd August – 15th August 2010. Final match was held on 15th August. Sri. Padmanav Behera, Minister of Steels and Mines and MLA of Phulbani were invited as Chief Guest. The prize distribution ceremony was been done with the presence of chief Guest.
LIVILIHOOD PROGRAMME FOR TRIBAL WOMENS
We know the detail status of the tribal women’s and necessity to society of their development. We are working for the socio economic development of poor tribal women’s in kandhamal district, particularly in Tikabali, Raikia, Daringbadi and Tumudibandha Blocks. SLAJUS is forming groups among the women’s in villages as SHGs.
The tribal women’s are very poor but hard labouring. Their contribution in family is very high than other members. They have committed to doing something for their family but no way to express due to illiterate and lack of facility and information. In this regards SLAJUS is organized training programmes, awareness programmes for their livelihood development. SLAJUS is working with based on local resources available. We are put our inputs to their socio economic through the proper management of local resources and SLAJUS is get satisfied result from tribal women’s i.e. they have increase their daily earning and having changed their standard of living.
SLAJUS is implemented a project “Economic Empowerment of Tribal Women in Kandhamal District” successfully. This project was implemented with the assistance of “Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology” (CAPART) (A Central Government Autonomous Body under the aegis of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India).
